Why I Reach for Claude When the Document Is Long and the Stakes Are Real
I have a rule now: if the thing I'm reading is longer than twenty pages, Claude gets the first pass, not ChatGPT.

It's not that Claude is smarter. It's that it holds the thread. I can drop a contract, a research PDF, or a messy spec and ask a specific question, and the answer stays tied to the part of the document that actually matters.
ChatGPT is the better all-rounder and the better coding buddy, but the moment I need it to not lose the plot across a long file, I switch. That's a narrow claim, and I mean it narrowly.
The failure mode is real too: Claude caps out on very long coding sessions, and when everyone piles on at peak hours it gets slower. So I use it where it's best and stop there.
Most 'which chatbot is best' posts pick a winner like it's a personality contest. It isn't. It's a matching problem. Match the tool to the shape of the work and you stop caring who's 'ahead'.
