AI Meeting Notes: Do They Actually Save Time?
I tested AI note-takers across a month of meetings. The time saved is real, but it shows up somewhere unexpected.

I was skeptical of AI meeting notes. Another app, another thing to set up, another summary I'd never read. Then I tried one for a month, and the benefit wasn't what I expected.
The obvious part works: you leave the call and there's a clean recap with action items. No scrambling to type while someone's still talking. That alone is worth it for anyone in back-to-back meetings.
The surprise was follow-through. Because the notes listed owners and next steps, I actually did more of them. The document sitting there made the task real in a way my mental "I'll remember" never did.
The catch is accuracy on names and numbers. It hears "Q3" and writes "Q3" most of the time, but a weird acronym or a quiet voice gets mangled. I still glance the summary before sending it to anyone.
One habit I had to keep: deciding what matters before the meeting ends. The tool captures everything, which means the important line can hide in a wall of text. A thirty-second skim right after the call fixes it.
Used as a backup brain, not a replacement for attention, these tools earn their spot. Used as an excuse to zone out, they just produce confident nonsense you'll trust by mistake.
