AI Customer Support Is Good Enough to Be Annoying
The bots got fluent. They also got very good at not solving your problem. A user's field guide.
There is a new kind of frustration: a support chatbot that writes beautifully, apologizes sincerely, and still has not refunded you.
The fluency is the trap. A clunky old bot you could out-argue. This one sounds so reasonable that you hang up feeling like the problem was yours.
The good deployments I have seen share one trait: a fast, shame-free escape hatch to a human. The bad ones are mazes designed to keep you talking to the bot forever.
As a customer, my move now is to type "agent" or "human" in the first sentence. It works more often than it should, which tells you everything.
As a builder, remember the goal is a solved problem, not a satisfied conversation. A chatbot that resolves nothing is a very expensive way to make people angry politely.
