What I learned selling AI prompts for a year

I sold prompt packs. The buyers were not who you think, and the 'secret prompts' were never the product.

For a year I wrote and sold prompt packs, the kind advertised as 'the exact words that unlocked the model.' They sold, but not for the reason the listings claimed.

Buyers were not buying words; they were buying confidence and a starting point. A blank chat is intimidating, and a pack removes the first-step anxiety. The prompts themselves were editable in five minutes.

The money was in packaging and trust, not secret sauce. Anyone could write the same prompts after a weekend of practice, which is exactly why the packs had a short shelf life.

If you want in on this, sell clarity and onboarding, not 'hidden prompts.' The hidden part is a story. The useful part is helping someone begin.
