The honest comparison
I wanted Midjourney to be my whole design stack. For about three months I generated hero images in MJ, upscaled them, dropped them into Canva, and called it a brand. It looked great in screenshots and fell apart the moment a client asked to change the headline color or swap one logo.
Canva wins the unglamorous fights. Templates, real text layers, export presets for every platform, and a shared folder my non-designer boss can actually open. Midjourney gives you one beautiful frame and then fights you on every edit after that.
The honest split: MJ stays for mood boards, concept art, and the occasional hero illustration where nobody needs to edit the pixels. Canva takes every deliverable that a human will touch again. If you are a solo creator shipping to social, Canva alone is fine. If you are building a world, MJ earns its seat.
Verdict: pick Canva unless image generation itself is the product. I wasted two months pretending otherwise.
