The honest comparison
Notion AI used to be a text box that summarized your notes. Now it drops in diagrams and formatted blocks that look suspiciously like light design work. Canva, meanwhile, will draft the copy for your flyer if you ask.
They are not the same tool and the crossover is thinner than the marketing suggests. Notion still lives inside your knowledge base; its visuals are functional, not pretty. Canva's writing is serviceable but it has no memory of your project.
I use Notion AI when the document is the point and Canva when the asset is the point. Forcing one to do the other's job just produces something I have to redo.
Verdict: stay in whatever app owns the file. The crossover features are novelty, not a reason to switch.
