The honest comparison

Job hunting broke me until I split it: Teal for the pipeline (saved roles, tailoring checklist, where each app stands) and ChatGPT for the cover letter I hate writing. Teal remembers the fifty roles; ChatGPT remembers how to sound like me for role fifty-one.

Teal's win is the boring one that matters: it shows the exact keywords a posting uses so you can mirror them, and it stops you applying to the same job twice. ChatGPT's win is turning that mirror into prose instead of me staring at a blank doc at midnight. Together the application takes ten minutes instead of an hour.

The trap is letting ChatGPT write the whole letter from the posting alone; it comes out generic and the recruiter, who reads hundreds, smells it. Teal's checklist forces me to drop in one real detail from the company, and that detail is what I hand ChatGPT so the letter isn't beige.

Teal won't write; ChatGPT won't track. I tried doing both in ChatGPT and lost the status of twelve applications in a spreadsheet I abandoned. I tried doing both in Teal and its writing helper is fine but not the thinker ChatGPT is. The two tabs are the point.

Verdict: Teal for the system, ChatGPT for the voice. One without the other is either a disorganized writer or a organized mute.
