The honest comparison

I wrote a script in Claude, then needed it spoken. Claude can't speak, so I pasted the script into ElevenLabs and got audio that passes for a human in most contexts.

The confusion is thinking one replaces the other. Claude is the writer, sharp on structure and tone. ElevenLabs is the narrator, and a great narrator can't fix a script that says nothing.

Where it bit me: I let ElevenLabs' voice be 'good enough' and skipped a rewrite, and the finished audio was fluent and empty. The voice hid the weak writing instead of fixing it.

Write with Claude, narrate with ElevenLabs, and don't let the pretty voice excuse a thin script. The words are still the product; the voice is just the delivery truck.
