Gemini Reads My Drive. Surfer Reads the SERP. One of Them Helps Me Rank.

Gemini's killer feature for me is context: it reads the docs, sheets, and past posts in my Drive and writes as if it knows the business. When I need a deep, on-brand explainer pulling from internal material, nothing else is close, and the 1M-token window means I don't babysit uploads.

But Gemini has no opinion about whether Google will rank the result. That's Surfer's entire reason to exist: it shows the terms, structure, and length the top pages use, then scores my draft against them. Gemini will happily write a beautiful 2,000 words that omit the comparison table every competitor has.

My pipeline now: Gemini drafts from my real material, Surfer audits and tells me what's missing, Gemini patches. Skipping Surfer gives me prose that ranks nowhere; skipping Gemini gives me a keyword-stuffed shell with no voice.

Verdict: Gemini for substance, Surfer for findability. If you only write for an audience that already follows you, Gemini alone is enough. If strangers must find it, Surfer earns its slot.
