AI Tool Comparison
Midjourney vs Canva: Pretty Lost to Practical, and I Needed Both
One makes art you can't quite make yourself. The other makes the flyer due Friday. Different problems wearing the same 'design AI' label.

Midjourney
Premium AI image generation for creators
Midjourney is a leading AI image generation tool widely used for concept art, design inspiration, and visual content creation.
Canva
Visual design platform with AI-powered creation tools
Canva helps users design social posts, presentations, documents, and marketing assets with templates and AI-assisted features.
The honest comparison
Canva and Midjourney both show up in 'AI design' lists, which is misleading. Canva is a layout tool with AI sprinkled on top. Midjourney is a picture generator with no idea what a flyer is. I use them for completely different moments.
When I need a hero image with mood, Midjourney delivers something a stock site never could, and something I couldn't draw if my life depended on it. When I need a post with text, a logo, and three buttons, Canva gets me there in ten minutes.
The trap is using Midjourney for anything with words on it. It produces gorgeous gibberish text, and fixing that in Photoshop eats the time you saved. Canva's AI text is at least editable afterward.
Keep Midjourney for the image you stare at, Canva for the thing you ship. They're neighbors, not competitors, and forcing one to do the other's job is how people quit both.
