AI Tool Comparison
Otter Hears the Meeting. Notion AI Reads the Room Afterward. I Fired My Note-Taking System.
Meeting capture and meeting aftermath are two different jobs. I ran both tools across a month of client work to find out where the handoff should happen.

The honest comparison
My old system was Otter recording everything and me occasionally pasting highlights into Notion — the paste step being where my system quietly died every busy week. The question was whether Notion AI could absorb the meeting job outright, or whether the handoff was doing more work than I gave it credit for.
During the meeting, Otter is simply better built for it: it joins calls itself, keeps speakers straight even when three people interrupt, and its transcript search saved me twice when clients referenced 'what we said' with confidently wrong details. As a capture device, it has no competition in this comparison.
Notion AI took over everything after the meeting and was better than I expected at it. Raw transcript pasted into the project page, and it extracts decisions, action items, and the open questions nobody answered — mapped to the context of the project it already knows. The summaries it writes from transcripts are sharper than Otter's native ones, because they know what the project is about.
The system that survived the month: Otter captures, Notion AI digests, and the paste step is now a ten-second ritual instead of a chore I skipped. What I stopped doing is expecting either to do both — Otter's summaries don't know my projects, and Notion AI can't hear a thing. Capture and comprehension. Split them and both get good.
