The honest comparison
I used to ask Perplexity to build my deck and Gamma to find my facts. Both did a mediocre job at the other's, which was on me, not them.
Perplexity's gift is the cited answer. Give it a question and it hands back sources you can click, exactly what a deck's 'why' slide needs. Ask it to lay out slides and you get a list pretending to be a narrative.
Gamma's gift is the opposite: feed it an outline and it returns a deck you'd recognize, with the generic phrases you'll cut. Ask it to research and you get confident text with no receipts, useless for anything you'll present as fact.
Now I research in Perplexity, drop the findings into Gamma, and edit. The deck gets both a backbone of sources and a presentable shape. Mixing them up was why my slides were either thin or wrong.
