Pictory Turns Text Into Video. Zapier Turns Video Into a Post. They Don't Compete.

Pictory takes a blog post or script and assembles a narrated video with stock footage. Zapier takes that video and posts it, logs it, and tells your team it happened. I spent a stupid amount of time wondering which to keep before realizing they're consecutive steps, not competitors.

Pictory's weakness is distribution. It'll make you a decent sixty-second explainer and then leave you with an MP4 and no plan. Zapier's weakness is creation. It can't dream up a single frame. So the workflow writes itself: Pictory produces, Zapier delivers, and the human picks the thumbnail nobody asked about.

I wired a Zap that watches a folder, and whenever Pictory drops a render, it posts to the channel, adds a row to the content calendar, and resets a 'next video' reminder. That's the entire social-video operation for a one-person shop, and it took an afternoon.

Verdict: if you only make videos and never post them, Pictory alone is fine. If you only post and never make, Zapier alone is fine. Most people do both and should stop forcing a choice between steps in the same assembly line.
