Your Company Bought 400 ChatGPT Seats. Half Are Unused.

Enterprise AI adoption looks great in the board deck and messy in the Slack threads. A look at the real numbers.

A friend who runs procurement at a mid-size company told me they bought 400 seats of an AI suite. Three months later, about 180 people used it more than once.

This is not a failure of the tool. It is a failure of the rollout. You cannot hand 400 people a chatbot and a login link and call it transformation.

The teams that got value had one thing in common: a champion. Someone who built the prompt library, killed the bad use cases, and showed the rest of the group a trick that saved them an hour.

The teams that churned had training that was a recorded webinar and a FAQ nobody read.

If you are buying AI for a company, spend less on seats and more on the three people who will make the other 397 actually use it. Adoption is a people problem wearing a software costume.
