The PDF Is Still King, and I Stopped Fighting It
For all the talk of new formats, the PDF refuses to die, and the tools that read it are more useful than any app that wants you to switch.
For all the talk of new formats, the PDF refuses to die, and I've stopped fighting it. Contracts, papers, reports, they all land as PDFs because they're fixed and portable.
I tried replacing them with live docs and wikis and the other party always wanted the file, the one that looks the same on every screen and prints without surprises. Format stability is a feature, not a limit.
The AI angle: PDFs are where the real documents live, and the tools that read them, the ones that turn a 40-page filing into something you can query, are more useful than any new app that wants you to switch.
If your work touches documents, make peace with the PDF. Learn to extract from it, search it, summarize it. The future of files is the same file, just finally readable by machines.
