Bing's Copilot is the AI most people have tried and the one they underestimate. It is free, it is in the search box, and for quick questions it is perfectly fine.
The problem is "perfectly fine" is not why you open an AI. You open one to think with, and Copilot feels like it is always one layer away from the search results it wants to show you. It is a search feature wearing an assistant costume.
ChatGPT, even the free tier, feels like a room you are in. You can go long, change direction, ask it to argue with itself. Copilot wants to give you the answer and move on.
There is also the model question. Copilot runs on Microsoft's models, which are good, but the version you get in the browser is not the version you would pick if you were buying.
Use Copilot for "what is the capital of" and "summarize this page." Use ChatGPT for everything that matters. The browser one is a good snack, not a meal.
