I drafted my resume bullets in ChatGPT ('make this sound like impact') and they were good: active verbs, numbers, no fluff. Then I pasted them into Kickresume and the difference was layout and ATS safety, the parts ChatGPT can't see because it has no idea how the page gets parsed.
ChatGPT's bullets said 'reduced onboarding time 30 percent.' Kickresume made sure that bullet landed in a section a scanner reads and wasn't buried under a fancy column the parser drops. I'd have shipped the ChatGPT version as a PDF from Word and wondered why silence followed.
Kickresume's templates also forced discipline: one page, consistent tense, no 'responsible for' openings. ChatGPT will write those if you don't forbid them; it optimized for impressive, not for hired. The template was the editor I didn't know I needed.
The combo I keep: ChatGPT for the words, Kickresume for the frame and the ATS check. Doing it all in ChatGPT left me with great sentences in a layout that hid them; doing it all in Kickresume left me with a clean page of weak claims. Split the job and both halves improve.
Verdict: ChatGPT for what you did, Kickresume for how it's presented and parsed. A great bullet in a broken layout is still a rejection.
