Claude vs Cursor: I Stopped Picking and Started Pairing Them
The framing is wrong. One is a brain you talk to; the other is a hands-on editor. You don't choose, you sequence them.

Der ehrliche Vergleich
I kept seeing 'Claude vs Cursor' as a fight. It isn't. Claude is where I figure out the approach; Cursor is where the code actually gets written into my repo. Using one for both means one of them is doing a job it's bad at.
Cursor's real advantage is context: it reads the file three directories over and edits in place. Asking Claude to do that means pasting chunks back and forth, and context melts on the way. For 'change this function and its three callers,' Cursor wins without debate.
But Cursor's suggestions are only as good as the plan behind them. When I hit a gnarly architecture decision, I step out to Claude, argue it out, get a design, then bring that back to Cursor to execute. The model behind both is often the same; the workflow isn't.
If you only write code occasionally, Claude in a browser gets you far. If you live in a codebase, Cursor is the upgrade. The people getting the most out of both use them back to back, not instead of each other.
