Edit video by deleting words in Descript - the workflow that saves hours
Treat the transcript as the timeline. Cut the sentence, the footage follows. A few rules keep it clean.
Descript's core trick is that your video is a document. Delete 'um, so, basically' from the text and the audio and video trim to match. For talking-head content this beats a timeline editor by a mile.
The rule that keeps it natural: cut filler words and whole false starts, but leave the breaths between real sentences. Over-trimming makes speech sound like a telegraph.
Use the studio sound cleanup before exporting, not after. Fixing audio on a finished file is harder than letting Descript do it on the way out.
Watch the result once at normal speed. Text edits can leave a click at a join that you only catch by listening, not reading.
