Designing T-Shirt Graphics in Ideogram When Text Must Be Readable
Ideogram handles lettering better than most, but a readable shirt still needs a short phrase and a disciplined prompt.
Shirt text fails when the phrase is long. Ideogram can render words, but a fourteen-word slogan becomes a smudge. I keep the printed line under six words and let the graphic carry the rest of the joke.
State the typography on purpose: 'bold sans-serif, centered, high contrast, no decorative swirls.' Vague 'cool text' gives you curly letters that don't print clean on fabric. The model responds to concrete style words.
Preview on a mockup, not on black. A design that pops on a white canvas can vanish on a navy tee. I generate, drop it on a shirt template, and only then judge whether the contrast holds.
Order one sample before a run of fifty. The screen version and the AI version differ in ink, and a small print-quality check saves a box of shirts nobody wears.
