I Fed Pictory a Blog Post and Got a YouTube Draft in 20 Minutes
Pictory turns a written post into a captioned video. The draft needed my voiceover, but the skeleton was free.
I had a post that did well in text and wanted a video version without filming. Pictory pulled the key sentences, dropped them over stock clips, and added captions. Twenty minutes later I had a rough cut that actually followed the article.
The auto picks are generic, so I swapped three clips for ones closer to the topic. Pictory's library is fine but obvious; a roofing post set to a generic handshake footage is a tell. Replacing the worst two frames is the difference between pro and template.
Then I recorded a voiceover and replaced the muted stock audio. The captions stayed, which matters because most people watch without sound. The blog became a video I'd have paid an editor to rough out.
Don't ship the auto version. It's a draft with someone else's footage and no voice. Treat it as the skeleton, then make it yours, and the 20 minutes becomes the cheap part of the work.
