The Chatbot I Delete Every Few Months (and Why I Come Back)
I keep uninstalling one assistant and reinstalling another. The reason isn't features - it's whatever I'm working on that month.
There's a rhythm to my tool use I didn't notice until I tracked it. For three months Claude lived in my dock because I was parsing long reports. Then a coding sprint pulled me to Cursor and ChatGPT, and Claude sat untouched.
The mistake is treating the deletion as a decision. It isn't. It's a reaction to the task in front of me. When the task changes, the tool should too.
Now I keep two installed and rotate by job, not by loyalty. The 'best' chatbot is the one whose strength matches this week's work, and that changes constantly.
If you feel guilty about not committing to one app, don't. The people who swear by a single tool usually do one narrow thing all day.
