Comparatif d'outils IA
Canva handles the design, ChatGPT handles the asking — most people need both
One gives you finished layouts, the other gives you infinite revisions of nothing visual. I ran a week of real design tasks through both and stopped switching between them wrong.

Le comparatif honnête
I spent a week forcing myself to pick one tool per design task: a set of Instagram posts, a course flyer, a pricing graphic, some YouTube thumbnails. The pattern showed up fast. Canva wins whenever the answer is a layout — margins, brand colors, a logo that sits in the same corner every time. ChatGPT wins whenever the answer is words that go inside the layout, or when I genuinely didn't know what I wanted yet.
The mistake I kept making was using ChatGPT as a designer. Ask it for a 'clean minimal flyer for a workshop' and you get a confident description of a flyer, or a mediocre generated image with text that melts at the edges. Canva, meanwhile, has its own AI features now, but they're helpers inside a design tool, not a replacement for picking a decent template.
Where ChatGPT earned its keep: writing the copy, suggesting three angles for the flyer headline, and telling me why my color choices felt muddy (answer: too many mid-tones, no contrast anchor). That's the part Canva doesn't do well. Canva's text tools rearrange your words; they don't interrogate them.
My verdict after the week: the flyer took 40 minutes when I stopped treating this as a versus matchup. ChatGPT drafted the headline and body copy, Canva built it in a brand kit, done. If you only pay for one and you make visuals regularly, get Canva. If you write more than you design, ChatGPT alone is fine. The combo is better than either, but it's a workflow, not a showdown.
One small thing that annoyed me: ChatGPT kept generating 1080x1080 squares when I asked for story dimensions, and Canva's magic resize saved me from caring. Small win, but it was the moment I stopped comparing them and just let each do its job.
