Gamma is the fastest way to get a first draft of a slide deck you did not want to make. Type the topic, get twelve slides with decent structure and AI art. It feels like cheating for about ten minutes.
Then the client sends notes. Move this chart. Cut the intro. Gamma's editing model is fine until you want precise control, and its templates all start to smell the same after the third deck of the week.
Canva is slower to start but every element is a real object. I can hand the file to a colleague and they will not need a tutorial. For internal throwaway updates, Gamma. For anything that goes in front of money, Canva.
Verdict: Gamma for the zero-draft, Canva for the deck that has to survive feedback.
