I paid for Zapier and Tome at the same time, which is the only honest way to compare. Free tiers lie.
Zapier earned its subscription by being the thing I reach for when I need automation. It glues together workflows you'd otherwise do by hand.
Tome earned its keep on presentation. It beats plain slides when the story is the point, and on that work Zapier would've been the wrong call.
The overlap is smaller than the comparison pages suggest. Where they touch, Zapier is quicker to something usable and Tome is stronger on the presentation half that I actually care about.
Verdict: keep Zapier as the automation default and pull in Tome only for the presentation work it clearly owns. Two subscriptions only make sense if you do both jobs every week. I kept the one that removed a step I actually repeat. The other got a bookmark, not a subscription.
