Fix a face in Midjourney with Vary Region instead of regenerating

Regenerating throws away the whole image. Vary Region lets you repaint just the broken part and keep everything else.

The reflex when a face comes out wrong is to hit regenerate, which means rolling the dice on the entire composition you already liked. Vary Region (or the inpaint equivalent) is the calmer move.

Select just the face area and prompt the correction: 'fix the eyes, natural skin, same lighting.' Keeping the selection tight stops Midjourney from reimagining the background or the hands.

Match the original style words in the new prompt. If the first image used a specific lens or mood, repeat those tokens so the repainted region doesn't pop against the rest.

If one Vary Region pass isn't enough, do a second on the same area with a tighter description. Small iterative fixes beat one ambitious prompt that changes too much at once.

Use this for portraits and product shots where one flaw ruins an otherwise usable render. Save full regeneration for when the whole frame is wrong.
