Transcribing a Podcast Episode With Otter for Quotes
Drop the audio in, enable speaker labels, and search for the one claim you're citing. The summary is a map, not the source.
When I want to quote a podcast, I drop the audio into Otter and let it transcribe. The accuracy on clean speech is high; on two people talking over each other it gets messy, and I correct names.
Speaker labels are worth enabling before you start. A transcript that says 'Speaker 1 said' is useless for attribution; one with real names lets you quote correctly, which matters in writing.
Then I search the transcript for the one claim I'm citing. Otter's library search means next month I find the quote in seconds instead of rewatching forty minutes.
Don't treat the auto-summary as the source. It's a map, not the territory. Pull the exact line so you don't misquote a 'um' away detail the summary flattened.
