Cutting a Social Teaser in Runway When You Have No Footage

You don't need a shoot to post a motion teaser. Runway's generation gets you 90% there if you brief it like a director, not a wish.

A teaser is three seconds of promise, not a story. I open Runway with a single shot description and a mood: 'slow push toward a glowing device on a dark desk, cinematic, shallow depth of field.' One sentence, one shot. People over-prompt and get mush.

The motion controls are the part worth learning. Set camera direction explicitly (push in, pan left, hold) because 'make it dynamic' gives you a wobble. For a product teaser, a slow push reads as premium; a spin reads as cheap. Choose on purpose.

Generate three takes, not one. The first usually has a melting edge or a flicker. Pick the cleanest, extend it if you need a beat longer, then drop it into your editor with a text overlay and a sound effect. The AI clip is the hook; the caption does the selling.

Don't let Runway write your caption. Its text overlays are weak and its copy suggestions are generic. Keep the tool in the visual lane and write the words yourself.
