Picking a Synthesia Avatar That Doesn't Distract From the Script

The wrong avatar pulls focus. A plain one in sensible clothes keeps the viewer on the words.

For training videos, I picked the flashiest avatar first and viewers remembered the jacket, not the policy. Swapping to a plain-dressed presenter in a calm color fixed it; the script finally landed.

The rule I use: the avatar should match the room. A casual onboarding video can take a relaxed look; a compliance update wants neutral. The viewer reads the presenter as the company, so the wardrobe is the message before the words are.

Avoid the uncanny by testing the avatar saying your brand name out loud. A name it mangles once will mangle every time, and that's the moment the spell breaks. Fix the pronunciation before you build ten slides on top of it.

Synthesia is a stand-in for a person, so treat the choice like casting, not decorating. Pick for fit, not for impress, and the video does its job instead of showing off the tool.
