Auto-Posting Your RSS Feed to Social With Zapier

A zap that shares new posts saves an hour a week, but the default version posts ugly. Two tweaks fix it.

The basic zap is simple: RSS trigger, then a social action with the title and link. It works on day one and looks like spam by day ten because every post shares identically and the hook line is just the post title.

Fix one: add a formatter step that pulls the first sentence of the description as the caption. Now each post leads with a real line instead of 'New post:'. Fix two: throttle to one post per few hours so a publishing burst doesn't flood the timeline.

The part that bites is the link preview. Some platforms need the raw URL alone in the message field to generate a card; appending text before it breaks the preview. Test one post manually before you trust the zap with the whole feed.

Turn on error emails and actually read them for the first week. A dead auth token is silent until you notice three days of missing posts. The automation is only as honest as the last successful run.
