Fix a Misstatement in a Published Video With Descript Overdub
You said the wrong number on camera. Overdub lets you correct it without reshooting the take.
I published a tutorial with a wrong price in it and only noticed after it had views. Re-recording the whole take was absurd. Descript's Overdub let me type the correct sentence, generate a match for my voice, and swap just that phrase in the transcript. The edit is invisible if you don't tell anyone.
The method: find the line in the transcript, replace the wrong words, and let Overdub synthesize the correction using the voice profile from the surrounding takes. Because it samples your actual voice, the new phrase sits in the rhythm of the old one instead of floating on top.
It's not flawless. A long correction in a different emotional tone can sound dubbed, which it is. So I keep corrections short and factual, names and numbers, never a re-read of a whole emotional beat. That's where it stays convincing.
For a published video with a small error, Overdub is the difference between a quiet fix and a public correction video. Use it for the typo-class mistakes, not for re-auditioning your performance.
