Building a Mood Board in Midjourney When I Have No Taste Words
Someone asked for the 'vibe' of a project and I had no words for it. Midjourney became my taste translator.
Someone asked for the 'vibe' of a project and I had no words for it. Midjourney became my taste translator: I fed it adjectives I was sure about and let it show me what they looked like.
The move: start with one strong word, 'brutalist,' 'warm,' 'clinical,' and let the images argue with each other. Seeing five directions in two minutes taught me what I actually wanted faster than any mood doc.
I save the winners into a board and stop there. The point isn't a final asset, it's alignment. A client who can't describe 'the feeling' will point at a picture and say 'that, but bluer,' which is a real instruction.
Don't prompt the final deliverable this early. Prompt the feeling. The moment you ask for 'a logo,' you've narrowed to a thing; ask for 'the feeling of a logo' and you get range.
Mood boards are where Midjourney is unfairly good, because vagueness is the input, not the bug. Use it before you know what you want, not after.
