I Let an AI Sort My Inbox and It Got Weird
Automating email sounds like a dream until the AI decides what's important and you miss the one thing that was.
I wired Fireflies and a filter rule to pre-tag my inbox by urgency. For a week it was great - the noise dropped and I answered the real stuff first.
Then it marked a client's polite-but-urgent note as low priority because it lacked alarm words. I almost missed the deadline. The AI was technically right about the tone and completely wrong about the stakes.
The fix wasn't a better model. It was a second human-style rule: anything from a known sender with a date in it jumps the queue. The machine handles volume; I handle judgment.
Automate the sorting, not the deciding. That line is where this stuff stops helping and starts risking your job.
