Image Models Finally Do Text Right, and It Changes Who They're For

For years AI images couldn't spell. Ideogram and friends fixed that, and suddenly non-designers can make real graphics.

For the first two years of generative image tools, the tell was obvious: any text in the picture came out as glorious gibberish. Posters, book covers, sale banners all needed a human to fix the words afterward.

That changed. Ideogram and a few others now render clean, legible text inside images, which sounds minor until you realize it removes the last manual step for most social and print graphics. A quote card or event flyer that used to be a two-tool job is now one prompt.

The practical effect is who gets to make things. People who can't use Photoshop can now produce a credible Instagram post with type that doesn't melt. The tools stopped showing their seams at exactly the moment casual users needed them.

It's not perfect. Long paragraphs still drift, and brand-specific fonts are hit or miss. But for short, bold text on a clean background, the models crossed the line from toy to tool this year.

If your graphics work is mostly words-on-images, this is the upgrade worth paying for. The days of generating a picture and then rebuilding it in a design app are ending.
