I Used Gemini's Deep Research to Write a Brief I'd Else Spend a Day On

Deep Research reads the web for minutes and returns a cited brief. The trick is scoping the question so it doesn't wander.

For a client brief on a niche market, Deep Research did in eight minutes what used to be a day of tabs. I gave it a precise ask, it fanned out across sources, and came back with a structured writeup and links. The links are the part I trust most.

The scope is everything. My first try was 'summarize the industry' and it returned a bland overview. My second was 'what are the three pricing models for X in the US market, with evidence,' and it actually answered. Narrow the question and the wander disappears.

I still verify the load-bearing claims. Deep Research cites, but citations can be stale or misread, so I click the two that matter before I put them in front of a client. The tool does the reading; I do the trusting, slowly.

Where it earned its keep is the draft skeleton. I take its structure, rewrite in my voice, and replace weak sources. The day I saved went into the thinking the model can't do, which is the part the client pays for anyway.
