Capture a Zoom call in Otter without the Zoom bot

If your account can't admit a recording bot, capture the meeting audio on your machine and let Otter transcribe it.

Some Zoom settings block third-party bots from joining, which breaks the usual Otter Live Notes flow. The fallback is to record audio locally and process it afterward.

Start Otter's recording on your device (or capture system audio) during the call, then import the file. Otter will transcribe it the same way it would a live session.

Label the speakers after import. Auto-detection is decent but messy on group calls; a minute of naming saves you from a transcript where everyone is 'Speaker 2.'

Trim dead air before sharing. A raw call has long silences that make the transcript feel longer than the meeting was.

This path is less convenient than the bot but gets the same deliverable when policy or settings get in the way. The transcript is what matters, not how it was caught.
