Wiring a Form Straight to a Database With Zapier

I stopped exporting form responses by hand. A zap takes each submission and writes a row to a database or sheet, with a formatter step that cleans the email and parses the date.

The setup that bites is field mapping. Zapier shows sample data once; if a later submission has an empty field, the row can shift. I map explicitly and add a filter that drops incomplete entries to a review list.

I turn on error emails and read them the first week. A dead auth token fails silently until you notice three days of missing rows. The automation is only as honest as its last successful run.

Once it's steady, I forget it exists, which is the goal. The form fills the database; I read the database when I need to, not when I remember to export.
