I Ran My Entire Work Week on a Single Chatbot. Here's What Broke.

I deleted every other AI tab for five days. The chatbot survived. My habits didn't.

I wanted to know if the 'one chatbot to rule them all' pitch holds up, so I forced every task through a single model for a week: drafts, research, code help, email, even deciding what to eat. No specialized tools allowed.

Day one felt efficient. The model handled a blog draft, summarized a PDF, and rewrote a rude email in about twenty minutes. The win was context: it remembered the project across tasks because it was all in one thread. That part of the marketing is true.

Day three is where it fell apart. I asked it to plan a multi-step workflow and then execute it, and it kept re-explaining the plan instead of doing the next step. A dedicated automation tool would have just run. The chatbot is a great thinker and a hesitant doer.

The real cost was hidden. By funneling everything through one chat, I lost the clean separation that specialized tools give me: my notes stayed in my notes app, my code in my editor. Pouring it all into one window made the work feel like one endless conversation with no edges.

Verdict: one chatbot is fine for thinking and drafting, terrible for doing. I'm keeping the generalist for brains and the specialists for hands. The 'one tool' dream ignores that different jobs want different interfaces.
