Let ChatGPT rewrite your terrible internal docs without losing the facts
Paste the messy wiki page, ask for structure not invention, and you get a doc your team will actually read.
Internal docs rot because nobody wants to rewrite them. The old page has the right facts buried under five tangents and a table that lies. You do not need to start over.
Paste the whole mess into ChatGPT and ask one specific thing: 'Restructure this into a short intro, a setup section, and a troubleshooting list. Do not add steps I did not provide.' The constraint matters. Left open, it will invent commands.
Then read every line against the original. I keep a diff mental model: if a fact moved but did not change, good; if a fact appeared from nowhere, delete it. The model is a reorganizer here, not an author.
Save the cleaned version and delete the old one the same day. A rewritten doc next to the original just creates a second rotting page.
