I Cut My Zapier Bill by Batching, and the Savings Were Ugly

Zapier is how I automated the boring parts without writing code, and I'd recommend it to almost anyone. Then the bill arrived and taught me the trap.
It prices per task, not per automation. The zaps that save you the most time are exactly the ones that run constantly, so the thing you rely on most costs the most.
I cut the bill roughly in half by batching: instead of one zap per event, I let things accumulate and process in fewer runs. Ugly, but the savings were real.
Complex zaps also go fragile. The more branches you add, the more a single API change breaks the chain, and you find out at 2am when the client email didn't send.
Use Zapier for the simple 80%, and write code for the frequent, complex 20%. Paying the tax on everything is how a no-code bill beats a developer.
