Gamma for Teachers: A Lesson Deck That Isn't Ugly in 15 Minutes

Teaching decks die in the gap between the material and the formatting. Gamma closes that gap well enough that my lesson prep went from most of a prep period to about fifteen minutes, and the decks stopped being walls of text.

The input that works is not 'make me a lesson on photosynthesis.' It is your own outline, roughly structured: hook, three core points with one example each, one common misconception, recap questions. Feed that to Gamma and it preserves your structure instead of inventing a generic one. The outline is the teaching; Gamma is the formatting.

Instruction choices that matter: one idea per slide (Gamma defaults to this, fight any urge to densify), and explicitly ask for a question slide after each section. The question slides are what turned the deck from a lecture into a lesson, and they take zero extra effort because Gamma sequences them naturally.

The recap quiz at the end is the feature teachers underestimate. Add it to the outline ('four recap questions covering the three points') and Gamma lays it out as real slides you can run as a plenary. My old workflow had the quiz as a separate document nobody projected; now it is just the last three slides.

Two cautions from classroom experience. Check every image it picks; the stock matches are occasionally distractingly wrong for younger years. And Gamma's enthusiasm for emoji belongs in year four, not year ten, so pick the plainer theme. Fifteen minutes, one deck, and it is legible from the back row: that is the entire promise, and it keeps it.
