I Turned a Blog Post Into a Podcast With ElevenLabs and Almost Believed It
I had a post that did well in text and wondered if it would work in ears. I pasted it into ElevenLabs, picked a calm voice, and got an audio version I could actually listen to on a run. The one setting that mattered was the pacing.
I had a post that did well in text and wondered if it would work in ears, so I pasted the whole thing into ElevenLabs, picked a calm voice, and got an audio version I could actually listen to on a run. It held up better than I expected.
The setting that mattered was pacing. The default read everything at the same tempo and a long paragraph became a wall; I broke the post into shorter spoken chunks and added a breath between sections. ElevenLabs handles that gracefully, and the result stopped sounding like a robot speed-reading.
I did not clone a voice or invent a host; I used a stock narrator and kept it honest. For a personal blog that is the right call, and it sidesteps the consent and disclosure questions that real voice cloning raises.
It will not replace a human podcaster who riffs and reacts, but for turning written work into something commuters can consume, it is the shortest path I have found, and the quality is finally good enough that nobody asks if it is AI.
