Use AI for the One Task You Hate Most

Trying to 'use AI for everything' fails because everything includes things you're good at. The win is narrower: find the one task you dread and hand it over.

Trying to 'use AI for everything' fails because everything includes things you're good at and don't need help with. The win is narrower: find the one task you dread and hand it over.

For me it was transcribing and summarizing. I despised it, did it badly, and resented the time. Offloading it to a transcriber and a summarizer gave me back the part of the job I actually like.

The mistake is starting with a shiny capability and hunting for a use. Start with the dread. The task you avoid is the one with the highest return on automation, because the baseline is zero.

One offloaded task beats ten explored and abandoned. Depth on the hateful thing compounds; breadth across everything dissipates.

If AI feels like a chore, you're aiming at the wrong target. Point it at the work you'd pay someone to do, and suddenly it earns its keep.
