I Ran My Budget on One Spreadsheet Bot

No new app, no dashboard. Just a model wired to the sheet I already hated maintaining.

I resisted yet another finance app and instead pointed a model at the budget spreadsheet I already kept. No new interface, just 'here are the rows, tell me where I blew the plan this month.' It worked better than any app I'd tried, because the data was already there.

The bot's real value was the question it could answer in plain language: 'why is dining up 30%' pulled the category and the three biggest charges. I didn't need a chart; I needed the sentence, and the model gave it faster than I'd have filtered the sheet.

The part that failed was discipline, not tech. The bot flagged the overspend on the second; I ignored it until the fifteenth, like every other budget system I've owned. The model exposed the problem; it couldn't make me care on schedule.

Still, it beat the app treadmill. One sheet, one model, zero new accounts. If your money already lives in a spreadsheet, point a brain at it before you download the fifth budgeting tool. The insight was always in the rows.
