Kickresume's ATS Score Is a Guideline, Not a Verdict

The score tells you if a scanner can read your resume. It doesn't tell you if a human should hire you. Two different questions.

I chased a perfect ATS score in Kickresume and ended with a plain, keyword-stuffed resume that passed the bot and bored the person. The score measures parseability, not quality, and I'd confused the two.

What the score is good for is catching real breakage: a two-column layout the parser drops, a skills section it can't see, dates it misreads. Fix those and you clear the first gate, which matters because a rejected parse is a silent no.

What it is not good for is telling you to pile on every keyword. A 100 score with no voice is a document a human skims and forgets. I now use the score to clear errors, then write for the person who reads after the bot.

Treat it like a spell-check, not a judge. It catches the mistake that hides you; it can't tell you if you're worth hiring. Clear it, then ignore it and write like a person.
