I Made Zapier Sort Incoming Resumes So I Would Stop Losing Good Ones

Hiring inbox was a graveyard of good candidates I forgot to reply to. I built a Zap: new attachment in a labeled email, parse the file, tag by role, drop a row in a tracker, ping me once a day. Nothing fancy, everything reliable.

The trigger had to be precise or it fired on receipts. I scoped it to the careers alias and a subject keyword, then tested with three fake applications before trusting it. A chatty filter is the difference between helpful and noise.

Zapier did not write the rejection emails, and it should not. It moved the data so the human decisions stayed human. The tracker is where I actually choose; the automation just stopped the dropping.

Cost stayed on the free tier because the volume was low. The lesson: most I need AI problems are really I need a filing clerk, and a cheap Zap beats an expensive model.
