I Made Claude Turn My Messy Notes Into an Outline, Then Wrote the Post
Instead of 'write me a post,' I pasted the mess and asked for structure first. The draft came out mine.
My notes are a dump: half sentences, a link, a grudge. Asking Claude to 'turn this into a post' produced something tidy and unlike me. So I changed the ask: 'from this mess, give me a three-part outline and tell me where the argument is weak.'
Claude is good at finding the spine in noise. It pulled a real flow out of my scraps and flagged the part where I claimed a result I hadn't shown. That flag is the valuable bit; the outline is just the scaffold.
Then I write the post myself from the outline, section by section, ignoring Claude until I'm stuck. The voice stays mine because the words are mine; Claude only did the sorting I'm bad at when the page is blank.
The mistake is letting it fill the sections. Once it writes a paragraph, I edit its voice out instead of writing my own, which is slower. Outline yes, draft no. The mess goes in, the structure comes out, the prose stays with me.
