I Made Claude Summarize a 90-Page PDF Into 12 Bullets I Could Actually Use
The trick isn't the prompt. It's telling it what to throw away.
I dropped a 90-page report into Claude and asked for a summary. The first pass was a wall of text that missed the point.
So I changed the ask: give me 12 bullets, each with the decision and the page it came from. Suddenly it was skimmable.
I made it cite the page so I could jump back and read the part that mattered instead of trusting the summary.
For anything longer than a few pages, I paste in sections. One giant doc makes it smooth over the boring parts.
The output isn't a substitute for reading. It's a map of where to read.
