Kill passive voice in your writing with Grammarly - but only where it hurts

Passive voice is not always wrong. Here is how to let Grammarly fix the weak spots and keep the deliberate ones.

Grammarly flags passive voice aggressively, and accepting every suggestion makes prose sound like a robot trying to sound confident. The goal is clarity, not a zero-passive score.

I accept the fix when the sentence hides who did what - 'mistakes were made' becomes 'we made mistakes.' I keep passive when the actor is unknown or irrelevant, like 'the file was deleted at 2am.'

The faster habit: scan suggestions top to bottom and only change the ones where the active version is obviously clearer. Five seconds per flag beats a blanket rewrite.

Used this way Grammarly is a sharpening tool, not an autopilot. The writing still sounds like you, just less muddy.
