Make your resume and LinkedIn tell the same story with Kickresume

Recruiters check both, and mismatches read as red flags. A one-hour sync pass: same numbers, same titles, same dates — and one deliberate difference.

The quiet way applications die: a recruiter reads a good resume, checks LinkedIn, and finds a different person. Different job titles, a missing role, numbers that don't match. Usually it's innocent drift — but it reads as carelessness at best and dishonesty at worst. A one-hour sync pass fixes it permanently.

Start in Kickresume with your best resume open and LinkedIn in the next tab. Go role by role through work history and reconcile four things: title, employer name spelling, dates, and the headline metric. 'Growth Lead' on the resume and 'Marketing Manager' on LinkedIn needs resolving — either pick the official title everywhere, or keep the resume's functional title and make LinkedIn's description open with the official one in parentheses. Choose once, apply everywhere.

The numbers matter most because they're the believable part. If the resume says 'grew revenue 40%' and LinkedIn says 'grew revenue significantly,' one of them is a lie in the recruiter's mind. Copy the exact claims across. While you're there, kill any metric on either document you can't defend in an interview — the sync pass is also a lie audit, and it's better you find it than an interviewer.

The one deliberate difference: LinkedIn carries more, not less. The resume is one page aimed at one job; the profile is the full career with the projects, the talks, the odd consulting month. Recruiters expect the profile to be the archive. What they're checking is whether the resume's claims appear there — a resume that's a subset of a matching profile reads as solid. A resume with stuff the profile contradicts reads as fiction.

Finish with the settings nobody touches: turn on 'open to work' recruiter-only if you're employed, match your LinkedIn headline to the target role's vocabulary rather than your current title, and set the profile URL to something clean to paste into applications. After this pass, applying somewhere is a thirty-minute edit instead of an identity crisis — and every document agrees with every other document.
